This is a Soviet inspired piece, with a typical Russian style wreath of ears of wheat, hence it must be of a fairly late date, perhaps 1980s somewhere. The pagoda device in the centre is the Afghan emblem. It appears to be made of brass and has possibly been gilded at some stage, inasmuch as the reverse appears to have a gilt finish. There are two brass threaded screw posts on the reverse. The condition is apparently all that could be desired, with some minor distortion from service and the gilt would appear to have worn off the front. |
