Deutsch Luftfahrt-Verband (German Aero Club) lapel pin. This pin - one of the rarest of the 3rd Reich lapel pins - was awarded for fully qualified balloon pilots (military observation balloons were disguised as civilian sporting ones at this time). NB: There was also a full-size qualification badge (ie this is the lapel-pin version).

Silver plate and enamel finish on base metal. This item is illustrated in Heering - Husken's 'Katalog der Abzeichen deutscher Organisationen 1871-1945' (published 1997) on pages 108-109 (item 8702d, priced at 500 DM).
