Title Gordon Highlander's Tug of War medal (1st battalion)
Nationality Scottish
Period 1930

This little gem measures 22mm across and shows the regimental title, battle honours, Tiger & Sphinx motif, and is die struck on one side, with 'Tug of War // 1bn Games // Landikotal1930' engraved on the other. The practice of awarding these fob-type medals started c. 1900.

Landikotal was one of the forward bases on the North West Frontier of India, in Pakistan today, deep in tribal territory, five miles from the Afghan border and the entrance to the Khyber Pass.

It is made of unhallmarked silver and is in GVF condition.

My order arrived this morning, thanks for the prompt delivery.

Two excellent original pieces, I must say.

Buckle is in minty condition retaining so much detail esp plummage on eagle's neck and chest, like to see those 'creases' on the legs also... a beautiful example of an early O&C buckle.

Belt is very interesting, rather thin, CROUPON stamped and also behind the tongue...maybe Allegmeine but no SS markings as you state. Beautiful piece none the less.

Thanks for a speedy transaction Chris, I am very happy with my purchase :)
