Title Indian Medical Service surgeon's pouch
Nationality British
Period c 1860

Rare survivor from the Raj, largely complete right down to surgical needles with their original paper wrapper. Five folding surgical knives, mounted in brass and tortoiseshell, together with two bullet extractors, all marked Weiss of London on the blades. Pouch marked 'I' under broad arrow, indicating Indian Army issue.

Leather work somewhat distressed through age and neglect.

Excellent information, Chris, you've been making a big effort! I will spell it out more closely (I'm a historian!) and don't think Bezdek can add much more.
