This bayonet is the classic Third Reich armed forces example, dated 1939 on the scabbard and on the back of the blade, marked for Carl Eickhorn, and with matching numbers to scabbard and blade. This was developed from the S84/98, which first made an appearance in Germany in 1915 as a wooden hilted example. There is some minor scarring to the surface of the blade, but this has most of its blue finish intact and there are trace elements of original finish to the scabbard and hilt. Grips are bakelite. |
