Title KS98 dress bayonet
Nationality German
Period c 1935
Sold
(This item is subject to special postage, click here for more information.)

This is a Gustav Spitzer Solingen walking out bayonet, modelled on the old Imperial KS98 issue bayonet, but without the sawback feature. These were private purchase bayonets that the soldiers could buy and wear with their walking out uniform. This was not an issue weapon.

The EPNS finish on the hilt is beginning to erode. The excellent blade is just over 24.5cm long and has its original leather washer. The scabbard is an old repaint, not brilliantly executed. This is priced according to condition.

Pickers and chains arrived this morning and are great!

Hanger arrived safe and sound 11.30ish today. Very pleased, it's as expected. Your excellent pics make all the difference in terms of confident buying over the net. As a matter of interest, the frog, which as you said is very a/f, is, as you thought, 'spot on'. On closer inspection it is a mk.1 Naval Frog, designated 'for cutlasses'. Date seems around 1860ish give or take.

By the way, I think your site is very user friendly. Seems to work much better than many and up to date, a rarity!!!
