Title Livery medal for the Worshipful Company of Cooks
Nationality British
Period c 1919-38
Sold

The coat of arms of the Cooks Livery Company is on the obverse, with the date 1482 below, while on the reverse there is: 'Perry Toulson Gardner // ADMITTED ON THE LIVERY // 3rd DECEMBER 1919. // AND ON THE COURT // 17th JULY 1929'. On the silver-gilt bar on the ribbon, it is marked 'MASTER 1938'. The medal itself is struck in silver gilt.

Perry Toulson Gardner was, therefore, Master of the Company in 1938 and obviously a chef of some distinction to have achieved this rank, having been accepted to the Company in 1919.

It is mounted on its original red and white silk ribbon and the metalwork is in AVF condition. There are no hallmarks, as these medals would have been privately purchased by the guilds direct from the makers and, therefore, no need for any hallmarking.

Just to let you know that the bayonets arrived safely this morning and I am extremely happy! They are everything that I had hoped they would be, but better! I am extremely pleased that i purchased them from you. The 1867 Albini ... is an absolute beauty, the blade is immaculate. The other is in fact in far better condition that I had imagined as well. So all in all, I couldn't be happier! Many thanks Chris.

I very much look forward to doing business with you again in the near future.

Just to let you know that the bayonet arrived safely this morning by Royal Mail. I am delighted with it and it will be put to very good use at some forthcoming events.
