This is an extremely rare pattern (46mm wide, as against 43/44mm wide for later issues) was made in the early months of WW2 and is maker marked '24' for Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Hanauer Plaketten-Hersteller. This cross was particularly popular with officers who did not wish to wear their Knight's Cross in the field. However, this does not essentially detract from what is a totally genuine medal. There is a small piece of original ribbon, somewhat delapidated. |
