Here are seven large KM gilt reefer/greatcoat buttons (24mm diameter), together with six tunic buttons (20mm diameter). The design dates back to 1925, when they were introduced in the period of the Weimar republic. The old imperial buttons had a crown on top of the anchor. The maker of some is Assmann, a famous German insignia maker. They are all in good shape, exept for the large zinc-based button, where the base metal has absorbed the gilding, a common problem with all zinc insignia of this era. The large ones are priced at ?10 each, while the small ones are ?5 each. If you buy the lot it is ?90. Some, particularly the large Assmann ones, may be of Weimar origin. |
