This is the war-time version in pressed steel with a grey wash issued to all service units in the field, such as the SS Police division serving in France and in Russia in the early years of the war. The original buckle was issued in die-struck aluminium, but, as an economy measure, these were produced in war time.
There is no maker's mark, but most of the grey wash remains, probably some 80/90%+. The condition is excellent for its age, with a few minor rust spots on the reverse.
