This postcard (a portrait photograph) of a Russian cavalry trooper shows the man in a summer tunic with a dragoon sword strapped on his belt. The buckle is the standard Russian Army enlisted man's variety. The epaulettes with the lace would indicate NCO rank. The cap is the standard field cap of the period. There are handwritten (Russian) details and a date (26.VI.1915 or 1916?) to the reverse. The card is also dated 1916 on the front. Condition: the bottom corners are slightly dog-eared, but the three-quarter body image is nice and sharp. |
