This buckle was introduced into the artillery and infantry units of the Saxon King's army and replaced the earlier, slightly larger version. Apart from a handful of regiments where a unique buckle was worn, this issue was standard for all Saxon forces, until replaced by the field grey pattern of pressed steel in 1915. On the reverse, it is maker marked and dated 'G. H. Osang 1914'. The box frame is of brass, while the centre plate is of nickel silver. Apart from some age / combat wear, the overall condition is good. |
