This medal (5cm across) has Hebrew writing in raised relief on the obverse and, in English on the reverse, it says: 'In appreciation of support given to the cause of reviving the ancient soil of Israel'. It has a silver suspension bar and a blue and white silk ribbon. It is marked on the reverse '935' and 'sterling'. There is a small tear in the centre of the ribbon, where perhaps the piece has been pinned on someone's noticeboard. The box is of olive wood and the condition generally is excellent. Is this some sort of gardener's medal or is the inscription of a more metaphorical nature? Would be interested to know if anyone out there has any ideas! |
