Title SOE tyre slasher knife
Nationality British
Period c 1940
Sold

This knife was designed by Rogers of Sheffield and manufactured for the government without any maker's designation on account of their issue to the Special Operations Executive (SOE). The little 'oyster' knife was the tyre slasher, designed to be used on the inner wall of the tyre to render it useless. A tyre could not be repaired if thus cut.

The large knife is a conventional lock knife. The grips are made of bakelite and this model is a variant design; the more commonly known has a nickel or steel bolster at the joint where the main blade is.

Its condition is good, although there are signs of wear to the bakelite and the main locking blade has a little sideways drift on the bolster, expected with something of this age.

Just to let you know that the bayonet arrived safely this morning by Royal Mail. I am delighted with it and it will be put to very good use at some forthcoming events.

Just a note to confirm that the [helmet plate centre] has arrived safely. It is a superb piece. Thank you.
