These knives were designed for close combat in the Pacific against a tenacious enemy and were probably kept in store for re-issue to US troops during the Korean War, hence the 1948 date stamp on the wrapper (clear type). This one has the bulk of its factory polish to the blade (marked 'CASE XX'). The leather scabbard is marked 'COLLINS' and has been damaged and repaired at the tip. The grips are plastic and the crosspiece is brass. |
