The 14th Bombay Native Infantry was raised in 1800 as the 2nd/7th Bombay NI, becoming the 14th BNI in 1824, a title retained until 1871 when Native was dropped. The first battle honour won by the unit was Kut al Amara in 1917. By then they were 114th Mahrattas. The regiment became the Mahratta Light Infantry Regimental Centre in 1922. The buckle is made of fire gilt bronze with the die-struck silver badge pinned to the face. This is a clean buckle, retaining most of its original gilding, with a little wear to the rims top and bottom and some minor buckling on one side of the belt clip. |
