A nice example with a natural grey patina. This revolver was accepted by the French Navy as their service weapon in 1856 and was used by both sides in the American Civil War. A sound and practical design, the only danger being with the cartridges if dropped on a hard surface. Unlike many pinfire revolvers, which have the central cylinder arbour screw threaded to fit the frame, this has an interference fit arbour secured to the frame by two small screws. The barrel is approximatly 6.5 inches long. There is some factory engraving on the piece and a little floral carving to the top of the grips. The bore and action are both excellent and the walnut grips show some age wear to the checkering, but are generally in good shape. |
