These were worn by officers, pipers and senior NCOs, the metal for the latter two being mostly nickel silver, while those for officers were either in fine quality silver plate or solid silver. This is of cast silver construction with an iron pin to the reverse. There are no hall marks, but this is typical of a mid-19th century example.
