Title Chamberlain's key/insignia, Viennese imperial court
Nationality Austrian
Period c 1860-1918
Price £120.00

This device was worn by Austrian court chamberlains as a symbol stitched into a pocket of the dress coat. It represents the key which every chamberlain would have carried as a symbol of office. It appears to be fire gilt on base metal of some sort and is in reasonable condition with most of its original gilding intact.

It is just under 13.5cm high altogether.

testimonials

Sword arrived today. Fabulous. This is an excellent example of a fighting sword of its period, and a real gem. The 1828 Pattern is such a gorgeous sword, and this is a fine example. Even my bride is impressed and she doesn’t really get swords.
