This award was granted to other ranks for meritorious service in the years before WW1 and in the early stages. There were two sizes of gold and two of silver, of which this is the smaller version of the latter (3.1cm diameter). Its condition is good very fine, but it has obviously been worn in contact with other medals, having a fair degree of contact marking either side of the emperor's bust and on his neck. However, there is little or no edge bruising, except for a small edge knock at about 2 o'clock. The ribbon is obviously missing and it was normally attached by a small loop of silver wire, folded over in an oval. |
