The Australian Comforts Fund (ACF) was first formed in August 1916 to send comforts to the troops. The ACF also ran a residential and recreational club for troops on leave in London called the AIF and War Chest Club. The ACF officially closed in April 1920, only to reopen for WW2. This may have been given to club benefactors or for service of some sort. If anyone knows, please fill me in. The medal/badge (22mm diameter) is probably made of unmarked cast silver. The suspension bar is engraved 1916-9. Its condition is good for its age and the ribbon, which appears to be silk, is clean. |
