Title Army other ranks belt buckle, aluminium
Nationality German
Period 1937
Sold

This has its regimental marks on the leather tag for the 1st Infantry Regiment and is maker marked Haarmann of Ludenscheid. These buckles were introduced in 1936 in die-struck aluminium with a feldgrau paint finish. They were later replaced by a steel example.

These aluminium buckles are considerably scarcer than the steel variety, especially if they have the bulk of their paint on them as this does. I would say that approximately 50% plus of the paint remains on the face and virtually all on the reverse.

The leather tongue has shrunk somewhat and there is a little crackelure damage on the reverse, but I think the regimental marks make up for this.

Sword arrived today. Fabulous. This is an excellent example of a fighting sword of its period, and a real gem. The 1828 Pattern is such a gorgeous sword, and this is a fine example. Even my bride is impressed and she doesn’t really get swords.
