This is the badge which was worn on the pouch belt by the officers of the British Indian police. The police was divided into two components in India: the paramilitary police battalions who served on the frontiers (viz Burma and NWF) and the local police, who kept order in the cities and towns of India. It is a die-struck white metal badge (5.25cm across) with an EPNS finish. It has three screw posts on the reverse for fitting to the pouch belt. There is a break between the laurel wreath and the crown on one side and there is some distortion to the badge itself, together with the odd patch of verdigris and dried mud. |
