This badge, instituted in 1919, was awarded to the officers of the cavalry brigade by the newly established Latvian state (the Latvian coat of arms is in the central shield). Latvia was ultimately surrendered by Hitler to Stalin, along with Lithuania, in the general carve-up of 1939, when Poland went the same way. Its condition is nice. It is numbered on the reverse and is of three-piece construction, quite apart from a two-piece securing device. |
