Title Enfield artillery sword bayonet, 1856 pattern

Artillery pattern bayonet, with a good German blade, maker marked 'F.H.' in an oval at the forte (probably Holler or Horster), but which has lost its factory finish. Iron scabbard with medium dark patination; hilt partially cleaned with good chequered leather grips, one of which is marked with a British ordnance inspection stamp to one grip scale.

As a matter of interest, the frog, which as you said is very a/f, is, as you thought, 'spot on'. On closer inspection it is a mk.1 Naval Frog, designated 'for cutlasses'. Date seems around 1860ish give or take.

By the way, I think your site is very user friendly. Seems to work much better than many and up to date, a rarity!!!
