Title Iron prick spur
Nationality European
Period 12th/13th century
Sold

This type would have been worn in the Crusader armies in the early Middle Ages. They were only superceded when the new style Gothic spurs appeared, with much longer shanks and the introduction of rowels in the 14th century. This example has the unusual feature of a square stop at the base of the prick to limit the penetration of the horse's flank.

This measures 10 cm acros at the instep. It is in somewhat fragile condition, being heavily corroded in parts, while retaining all its original shape. The rust has been largely stabilised, but minor surface rust is evident overall. It is a ground find.

Thanks very much for the bayonet. I am very happy, I think your photos of your items are great because nothing is hidden and you can clearly see them. (Unlike some other dealers.) Everything was as you describe, I will be keeping a eye on your site for any further bayonets for my collection.
