This 18.5cm-long gun lock is a classic North African number. All external working parts are covered in brass sheet: plain for the lock plate, with all other elements lightly chiselled, except for the frizzen, which is extensively chiselled and engraved iron. This is an excellent example of Tunisian lockwork of this period. There appears to be a signature in Arabic on the base of the plate by the tail of the mainspring. |
