US bayonet introduced in 1943 for bayonet combat training. Blade formed from short section of steel laminate at forte, remainder of black plastic. 300,000 of these were made before the bayonet was declared obsolete and withdrawn from service on account of its dangerous nature (it could kill!). The only defect is a three-quarter of an inch split to one side of the pommel, which is made of black plastic, as is the whole of the grip. Scabbard marked 'USN Mk1'. Quite a rare find, in the UK at least. |
