Title NSDAP (party) cap eagle, 2nd model
Nationality German
Period c 1936-45
Sold

These were introduced around about 1936 and may well have been made right up until the closing stages of the war. Typically seen on SA sports kepis and occasionally on the peaked service cap, it was replaced by a later model with a longer wing span somewhere in the early 1940s.

This is made of pressed tin with a zinc finish. Originally it may have been gilt, as zinc is notorious for absorbing any silver/gilt wash. Its condition is average for this sort of piece, with rust to the reverse. One of the prongs is missing.

I am wholly delighted with the shako plate. [It] is a wee cracker. It is a real pleasure to have something combining both condition and quality in equal parts, and I simply could not be more pleased.
