These round badges were worn by ORs and denoted their particular professional skill, in this case a torpedo mechanic. Torpedo mechanics would have been responsible for maintaining the tin fish on the U-boats, torpedo boats and destroyers, setting fuses and depth running systems. It was worn on the upper left arm. This is made of dark blue wool broadcloth with an embroidered device with what looks like a linen backing. Its diameter is 5.5cm and its condition is ex-stores. |
