Title Royal Artillery officer's sabretache badge
Nationality British
Period c 1880

This is a particularly nice example, retaining virtually all its gilt finish, identical in style to the 1871 pattern Home Service helmet plate, but I suspect the sabretache badge predates this design-wise. It would have been worn on a black patent leather example when full dress was not required.

It is in superb condition, almost as it would have been when it left the tailor's shop. It is a die-struck badge, made of gilding metal with a mercury fire gilt finish.

If you want to comment on this item—re quality, age, etc—please email me.

The pommel arrived safely today... It's a nice little object and really quite tactile... As usual, it was a pleasure to do business with you and I look forward to finding something else in your stock to tempt me.
