Title Royal Irish Fusiliers officer's busby bomb
Nationality British
Period c 1881 on
Sold

In 1881 the 87th Prince of Wales Own Royal Irish Fusiliers and the 89th (the Princess Victoria's) Regiment of Foot were amalgamated to form the RIF. The eagle commemorates the capture of the eagle of the 8th French Regiment by the 87th at the battle of Barrosa in 1811.

This is an almost mint example with all its firegilt finish intact. One lug is missing on the reverse and I have yet to clean the piece, so there is some dried metal polish still in the flames of the bomb, but this will be easily removed.

I am just dropping your company a line to say thank you for the 2nd WW Iron Cross, that my brother has purchased off your site Thursday evening. We received it 1st class today and it is in excellent condition. Many thanks again.
