Title Senior diplomat's cap insignia
Nationality German
Period c 1940
Price £180.00

This mis-matched set is from the dark blue visor cap of the senior elements of the state officials and diplomatic corps, eg ambassadors. People like Ribbentrop and Constantin von Neurath can be seen in photos wearing this insignia. It was introduced for the diplomatic corps in 1938 on a black visor cap, a summer version being in white.

The eagle is clearly of somewhat different make to the cockade and the wool cloth backing has faded, whereas the cockade is in near ex-stores condition.

These rarely turn up on the market and I have priced this to take account of the mis-match factor.

My order arrived this morning, thanks for the prompt delivery.

Two excellent original pieces, I must say.

Buckle is in minty condition retaining so much detail esp plummage on eagle's neck and chest, like to see those 'creases' on the legs also... a beautiful example of an early O&C buckle.

Belt is very interesting, rather thin, CROUPON stamped and also behind the tongue...maybe Allegmeine but no SS markings as you state. Beautiful piece none the less.

Thanks for a speedy transaction Chris, I am very happy with my purchase :)

...the sword arrived safely today... My son, who shares my interest in antique edged weapons and for whom I bought the sword, is delighted.
