Title South Irish Yeomanry shoulder title
Nationality British
Period c 1914
Sold

Disbanded in 1922 on the partition of Ireland, the SIY served with distinction in WW1. These titles were worn on the shoulder to indicate the unit, particularly important after the collar dogs were abandoned in 1916: if the man had lost his cap and was a casualty, next to his dog tags, this was the only indication of his unit.

Its condition is excellent, both copper lugs showing a nice brazed finish at their base.

The day the blunderbuss arrives I could not stop looking and feeling the gun for at least one hour. My wife told me that I was sick........ I am very happy, it is a piece of craftsmanship! Well made! I have 5 blunderbusses but all iron barrel, also from England but this one is gorgeous with the Brass Barrel.

Please keep me informed when you have any other type of blunderbuss. Thanks my friend!
