Title Springfield rifle bayonet, model 1917
Nationality American
Period 1917
Sold

This is the classic US bayonet for the 'dough boys' of WW1. They were sometimes later issued, together with the rifle, to Home Guard units in WW2 as part of the American Lend Lease programme supporting Britain with arms in the dark days of 1940/1. It is maker marked Remington and dated 1917.

The scabbard has its original green stain and the blade has its original anodised finish. The condition is good average. The iron mounts of the scabbard and hilt now have a dark patina.

testimonials

Just a brief note to confirm that the sabre has been delivered today. All is as it should be. I have to say I’m impressed with the ‘custom’ packaging, obviously essential in your line of business. I have made a very quick inspection of the sword & it fully lives up to your accurate description, very pleased with the purchase.
