Maker marked RZM 'M 4 / 22' (for C.T. Dicke), it is thought that only some 30,000 were ever produced. Only this firm is known to have made them, so they are comparatively rare. This unit was raised from the more able-bodied SA veterans for internal security duties, occasionally providing firing squads for KZ establishments. These die-struck aluminium buckles were also used by the General Government of Poland for border control. There is a nice illustration of this buckle being worn in the 1943 NSDAP Organisation book, confirmation of the fact that it was introduced in 1943 (viz John R. Angolia's Belt buckles and brocades of the Third Reich). |
