This design replaced the Earl of Middleton's crest when the regiment became Queen Mary's in 1911 upon the coronation of George V. It is one of those badges where it's actually quite hard to determine whether it is a veteran's pin or a sweetheart brooch; the simple answer is that it may well have served as both. It is made of gilding metal with an electrogilt finish, the wreaths and logos being in vitreous enamel. It measures 3.9cm long. There is some wear to this, but no obvious damage as such. |
