This was the first official issue bayonet, designed for the Karabiner 1905 Mauser. It has the flashguard on the back of the grip, a typical feature of wartime examples. The forte is stamped 'H.Mundlos & Co. // Magdeburg'. There is no date, only a Prussian acceptance stamp at the base of the blade, together with one above the press stud. The blade has small patches of surface pitting scattered on both sides, and has been carefully sharpened. The grips appear to be fruitwood, a little oil/age stained. The hilt has been carefully hand cleaned. The scabbard has scattered surface pitting throughout, now polished bright. The sawback element of the blade is in exellent condition, just a few age stains here and there. |
