A fascinating subject, both for the academic collector and for the hands-on black powder enthusiast. Currently not subject to any firearms licencing within the UK, except for modern copies. Most of these weapons tend to be of British or American origin, with a few pieces from Belgium, Austria, etc. The best reference books are: The revolver 1818-1888 (two volumes, sadly now out of print) by A W F Taylerson.
