Title Algemeine SS enlisted man's buckle
Nationality German
Period c 1930-36
Sold

This is the classic Overhoff & Co buckle for the black uniformed pre-war Algemeine SS. It is marked on the reverse 'O&C GES.GESCH', which is the second type of naming for this firm. In 1936, a polished aluminium buckle was introduced, ending the production of these old nickel silver ones, which were, however, worn throughout the war.

The condition is pretty good for its age; note above all the yellow brazing to the base of the goal post, which is a sure sign of its authenticity when compared especially to the Budapest copies, which have silver-soldered goal posts, amongst other give-away signs.
