Marked on the back of the blade 'Manufacture d'Armes St Etienne 1876'. This was the bayonet carried on their second bolt action black powder rifle through all of France's campaigns in Africa and Indo-China in the latter half of the 19th century before the introduction of the Lebel in 1886. The weapon has matching numbers throughout and is in excellent condition, with some traces of the original blue finish to the scabbard. There is minor bruising to the wood grips. |
