Title Percussion boxlock pistol with turn-off barrel
Nationality British
Period c 1840
Sold

This is a typical Birmingham pistol (no maker's name), with Birmingham proofs on the barrel, the type of weapon that people would have carried for self-protection in the rough and tumble years of mid-Victorian Britain. It would deliver a devastating blow at short range (calibre approximately .50).

This is an iron-mounted example with a hidden trigger and a chequered walnut butt, set with an escutcheon. It is mechanically sound. The overall length is 7 3/4 inches.

I should have written sooner, but I did want to let you know that the photos arrived safely and are absolutely fabulous. I could not be happier with them.

Thanks for the excellent service and great photos. I hope we have occasion to do business together again.
