Title RN WREN's (nursing) waist belt clasp, hallmarked silver
Nationality British
Period 1903
Sold

This is perhaps the rarest of all Royal Navy buckles, being only worn by commissioned rank female nursing staff. It is fully hallmarked for London, 1903, together with a maker's mark 'JD'. The dimensions are those of a conventional RN officer's buckle.

The condition is excellent, all the relief detail still being nice and sharp. It weighs 60 grammes.

These rarely come on the open market, most being handed down within RN nursing circles.

Found the item a little on the expensive side and a bit disappointed that you were unwilling to bend a bit on the price of the Officer's Tunic Eagle (half the fun of buying, after all, is the haggling), but impressed by the speed of delivery and the quality of the item. Was well worth it in the long run...
