This fairly common bayonet rises in academic interest when the matching marks - for the 3rd Chevaux Leger (Light Horse) of Bavaria - to both hilt and scabbard are taken into consideration. The whole bayonet has been carefully cleaned and the profile of the point has been altered somewhat, perhaps through use in the field. The grips are good quality, fine grain walnut and it was made at Erfurt arsenal. There is a paper price label on the scabbard, indicating a price of ?120, but actually this is in fact ?130. |
