Title LAH photograph album
Nationality German
Period c 1936-42
Sold

This album belonged to a young Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler (LAH) recruit. There are some 68 photos in all, of which some 40 are of LAH soldiers and officers, mostly in the pre-war mode, with one shot of a Kubelwagen whose driver sports an M42 cammo cap. Cammo and mess dress apart, every possible uniform variant is present.

The album opens with a postcard of the LAH barracks at Berlin Lichterfelde, continues with 11 assorted shots of these barracks, three shots of Speer's massive Reichsadler in the Berlin Festival of Light (a pre-war Goebbels propaganda stunt), four assorted shots of the twin mausoleum for the 1923 Putsch NSDAP 'martyrs'. The rest of the album is dedicated to the officers and men of the unit.

The photos each measure 9 x 6.5cm. Some of the protective paper separator leaves are missing or torn, but generally the album is in good shape. There is typical yellowing of the photographs - always a good sign of authenticity! There is a little wear to the top and bottom of the spine through age and a little minor age spotting to the covers here and there. Otherwise it is in good shape.

Hanger arrived safe and sound 11.30ish today. Very pleased, it's as expected. Your excellent pics make all the difference in terms of confident buying over the net. As a matter of interest, the frog, which as you said is very a/f, is, as you thought, 'spot on'. On closer inspection it is a mk.1 Naval Frog, designated 'for cutlasses'. Date seems around 1860ish give or take.

By the way, I think your site is very user friendly. Seems to work much better than many and up to date, a rarity!!!
