Title Silver-topped cane to Sgt Drummer I.H. Macintyre
Nationality British
Period 1912
Sold

Engraved on the 1912 hallmarked silver top is: 'SERGt. Dr. I.H.MACINTYRE // 1st (Highland) Cadet Battn. // The Royal Scots 1913'. It would appear, therefore, that this was a presentation piece. The hallmarks are London marks. The cane is malacca, somewhat worn for the bottom 15 inches through use.

The silver has bruising and signs of wear throughout, but, in particular, one side has been crushed. These cane tops were normally filled with resin, which would take a certain amount of punishment, but, in this case, obviously it was overdone! However, it is a nice example of a pre-war cadet battalion walking stick to an interesting rank.

testimonials

I have in the last six months inherited my late father Alan Swain's police memorabilia collection along with much paperwork receipts etc. I would like to pass on to you my thanks for such good dealership with my father going back to the late 80s and well into the 1990s.

Sword arrived today. Fabulous. This is an excellent example of a fighting sword of its period, and a real gem. The 1828 Pattern is such a gorgeous sword, and this is a fine example. Even my bride is impressed and she doesn’t really get swords.
