This is perhaps one of the best of these magazines because, first, it was produced in October 1942, while the Third Reich was still on a roll, showing the Leningrad and Western Desert fronts; and, second, it is the English issue, produced mainly for the Channel Islanders. This was a propaganda magazine with wide readership in Germany and beyond. Its condition is generally fine throughout, with a minor tear to the front cover at the leading edge and some age discolouration as the paper used would be ordinary wood pulp. The photographs are in the German army tradition, absolutely first rate, including some in colour, a medium which only the American army used, generally speaking, in the Pacific theatre. Remember this is wood pulp paper that is now nearly 70 years old and has to be handled with great care. Having said that, it is still fairly robust. |
