militaria item Porcelain beer stein, Wurttemberg Pioneer Battalion 13
- German
This is a little unusual, being the pontoon company (no. 4) of the 13th Pioneer Battalion (Wurttemberg) of the German Army. It is dated 1909-11, denoting the two-year conscript service of Pioneer Steeb who had this made as a souvenir by R. Kahle of Ulm-on-Danube (maker mark under hinge of lid). The base has the traditional lithophane.

militaria item Porcelain beer stein, 9th Wurttemberg Infantry
- German
This stein is unusual insomuch as it is not Prussian, but rather one of the smaller states, Wurttemberg. It is inscribed round the base: '7.Comp. 9.Wurtt.Inftr.Regt. No.127.Ulm. 1904-06'. 'Gefreiter Kaser' is painted just under the top wreath on either side of the State Wappen (coat of arms). There is a lithophane in the base.

militaria item Winterhilfswerk ceramic birds and butterflies
- German
Winterhilfswerk (WHW) was a state organisation dedicated to the relief of the poor and the homeless during the winter months (October to March). Little hand painted ceramic figures (originally on pins), of which these are representative, were given out by WHW personnel in the street in exchange for contributions.

militaria item Bisque porcelain plaque of Brandenburg Gate
- German
This Berlin factory marked (impressed sceptre) bisque porcelain plaque in a box has, on the obverse, an image of the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, an iconic motif of the city. This would probably have been made as a piece for the tourists of the era.
