Sapeurs Pompiers de San-Francisco helmet plate - French
These were worn on a brass helmet with a high comb and elaborate chinscales. They were nominally part of the army and the '2' denotes the regiment. However, there is a puzzle here. San Francisco is the Spanish spelling of the name rather than the French - could this point to a West Indies or Canadian connection?

US Army Inspector General's collar badge, bronze - American
This little badge (1" high) is marked 'J.R.GAUNT LONDON' on the reverse. These were worn on the stand-up close collar of the period tunics. This must be one of the rarer departmental badges of the US Army from this period, as this would have been one of the smallest branches.
