Title Surrey Yeomanry sweetheart brooch/veteran's badge
Nationality British
Period c 1920
Sold

This design replaced the Earl of Middleton's crest when the regiment became Queen Mary's in 1911 upon the coronation of George V. It is one of those badges where it's actually quite hard to determine whether it is a veteran's pin or a sweetheart brooch; the simple answer is that it may well have served as both.

It is made of gilding metal with an electrogilt finish, the wreaths and logos being in vitreous enamel. It measures 3.9cm long.

There is some wear to this, but no obvious damage as such.

Today I received your flag. It's very nice and looks genuine to me. Beautifull crisp colors! It looks barely used. It's a nice addition to my ww2 collection. I would even say, one of my top pieces.

Thanks for your excellent service and top communication!

I will check your site more often to see if you have more nice pieces.

Hanger arrived safe and sound 11.30ish today. Very pleased, it's as expected. Your excellent pics make all the difference in terms of confident buying over the net. As a matter of interest, the frog, which as you said is very a/f, is, as you thought, 'spot on'. On closer inspection it is a mk.1 Naval Frog, designated 'for cutlasses'. Date seems around 1860ish give or take.

By the way, I think your site is very user friendly. Seems to work much better than many and up to date, a rarity!!!
